Victoria was born and raised in China, where her lifelong commitment to education began at an early age — inspired by her mother and her own early teachers. She became a teacher immediately after graduating from university.
Living outside China gave her a new perspective on her own culture — a perspective that now shapes how she teaches Chinese to learners from around the world.
She holds a B.A. in Chinese Language and Literature from Harbin Normal University and an M.A. in Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language from Capital Normal University. She scored 93/100 on the Putonghua Proficiency Test — Level 1-B, a standard achieved by only a small percentage of native speakers.
Her students at Brown University, Harvard University, and Associated Colleges in China(ACC)have consistently given her high evaluations over the years — with Harvard University's teaching certificates for outstanding student evaluations serving as the most tangible example of that recognition.
Victoria knows firsthand the challenges of learning a foreign language — a journey that shaped her deep patience with non-native learners and her relentless pursuit of more effective, personalized methods. Her approach helps students not only speak Chinese, but truly understand Chinese culture.
